Who should apply?
Girls, transgender, and gender non-binary youth between the ages of 8-16 by the start of camp may apply. Prior music experience is not required!
How much does it cost?
Tuition for week-long youth camps is $400.
We realize that not everyone can afford our suggested fees. To ensure camps are financially accessible, we use a sliding scale of $0-$400 to include a range of tuition amounts.
Girls Rock Camp Toronto operates with very limited resources, and we rely heavily on donations and support from the community to sustain our programs.
We ask those who can afford to pay full price to do so.
Please consider your family income, resources, and dependents in the household when determining your tuition amount. The application form includes a section where you can indicate your request to apply for financial subsidy.
This process is honour-based and confidential. We do not require any supporting documentation for consideration, so we expect you to be honest in your assessment and statement of financial need.
What time does camp start and end?
Camp hours are 9am-5pm.
Optional early drop-off begins at 8:30am and optional late pick-up ends at 5:30pm.
The showcase concert is on the last day of each week of camp. Doors will open to the public at 6:30pm and the concert will begin at 7:00pm.
What instrument can I play at Girls Rock Camp?
Campers choose which instrument to learn: guitar, bass guitar, drums, or keyboards.
Please indicate first and second choice of instrument on the application.
Due to the need to acquire gear in advance, you cannot change your selection after you send in your application, and you cannot change instruments during the program.
I already know how to play an instrument — is GRCT for me?
Yes! Girls Rock Camp is for youth of all musical abilities.
I’ve never played an instrument before — is GRCT for me?
Yes! You will have plenty of instruction in a non-judgemental and supportive environment.
Do I need to bring my own instrument?
No. All instruments will be provided at camp.
But if you have your own guitar or bass, you may bring it. Please note that Girls Rock Camp Toronto does not accept liability for personal instruments.
What is the selection process?
Participants are selected by a committee seeking to establish a balanced and diverse camp population in relation to instrument, age, previous musical experience, economic status, geography and community.
We anticipate receiving more applications than spots available, meaning we may not be able to accept every girl who applies. Additional information about camp will be sent with acceptance letters.
Due to high demand, campers may only participate in one week per year. This allows as many campers as possible to experience Rock Camp!
If you have any additional questions, please use the contact form to get in touch.
